What are session cookies?
Cookies are either stored in memory (session cookies) or placed on your hard disk (persistent cookies). Persistent cookies are used to store information between visits to a site.
Session cookies are used to store information only within a session. These cookies are cached only while a user is visiting the website issuing the per-session cookie and are deleted when the user closes the session.
We have chosen not to store information on your computer by using session cookies. If this creates an inconvenience, we apologize. But our preference as internet users is to not have others put information on our computers, so we are not putting information on your computers.
How do I allow session cookies for Join the Race?
Choose one of these options:
- Download Firefox - The default settings for Firefox allow for session cookies. This website is optimized for Firefox.
- Change the 'Privacy' settings in Internet Explorer to 'Allow Session Cookies'
- For Internet Explorer 7: Tools--> Internet Options --> Privacy --> Advanced and check the box that says 'Always allow session cookies'
- For Internet Explorer 6: Tools--> Internet Options --> Privacy --> Advanced tab and check 'allow session cookies'
- For Internet Explorer 5 or 5.5: Tools --> Internet Options --> Security tab --> Custom --> Under Cookies, click Allow Per-session Cookies (Not Stored)
- For Internet Explorer 4 or earlier: View --> Internet Options --> Advanced tab --> yellow exclamation icon under Security, choose either 'Always Accept Cookies' or 'Prompt Before Accepting Cookies' [Note: In IE 4, there is no distinction between per-session and persistent cookies, it is highly recommended that you upgrade IE.]
- Add jointherace.org to your allowed website list (for Internet Explorer 6 or 7)
1. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
2. Click the Privacy tab, and then move the slider to a position between the top and bottom so you are not blocking or allowing all cookies.
3. Click Sites.
4. In the Address of website box, type 'jointherace.org', and then click Allow.
You may also double-click the eye 
near the bottom right of the screen and select 'Settings' to get to the Privacy window.
